Why You're Not the Featured Offer: Ask Amazon Seller Assistant
Amazon Featured Offer eligibility no longer depends on your seller account. Here's why your offer still loses the Buy Box, and what to ask Seller Assistant.
TL;DR
- Amazon dropped the seller eligibility check for the Featured Offer (the Buy Box). Its help page says that as of September 2026, offers from all sellers are eligible to be evaluated. So if you're not featured now, the reason is your offer, not a gate on your account.
- Amazon ranks offers on what customers care about: total price (item plus shipping), delivery speed and a specific delivery date, free shipping, free returns, and seller performance (order volume, chargebacks and Voice of the Customer complaints).
- What doesn't count: customer reviews and star ratings, the Prime badge, and FBA vs FBM. If everything else is equal, they're treated the same.
- No Featured Offer at all ("See options") usually means no offer meets Amazon's bar: check stock, whether you ship to that customer, and Pricing Health, where Amazon shows offers priced above the Competitive Price Threshold.
- Ask Seller Assistant. Amazon says it can now assess Featured Offer eligibility. Ask it about one ASIN, then check the answer against Pricing Health and your Business Reports.
The Real Question: Why Isn't My Offer the Featured Offer?
You list a product, the price looks fine, you have stock, and the page still says "See options," or the Add to Cart button goes to someone else. It's one of the most-asked questions in Seller Central, and for years the honest answer started with "maybe your account isn't eligible."
That answer is gone. Amazon removed the seller eligibility step this year, and its own help pages now spell out what decides the Featured Offer and what doesn't. Here's how it works now, the reasons sellers lose it, and the questions to put to Seller Assistant so you get to the cause in minutes.
What Changed: No More Seller Eligibility Check
On July 6, 2026, Amazon posted "Updates to Featured Offer eligibility requirements" on its seller forum. Until then, picking the Featured Offer took two steps: Amazon first decided which sellers were eligible based on seller performance, then ranked the offers from those eligible sellers. Amazon said the first step "is no longer delivering additional value to customers, so we're removing it." The rollout started in July and runs across all Amazon stores, completing by the end of 2026.
Amazon's "Featured Offer eligibility" help page has since been taken down. In its place, the "Becoming the Featured Offer" page answers the question directly: as of September 2026, Amazon no longer maintains a seller eligibility requirement, and offers from all sellers are eligible to be evaluated.
Two things didn't change. Amazon says it's "not changing how the Featured Offer is selected," and "being considered for the Featured Offer doesn't guarantee your offer will be featured." Seller performance still counts. It just moved from a pass-or-fail gate into the ranking.
How Amazon Picks the Featured Offer
The Featured Offer is the offer with the Add to Cart and Buy Now buttons on a product page. Amazon says it ranks all offers the same way for every product, with no manual overrides. When no single offer is clearly better, the Featured Offer can rotate between the best ones.
What Amazon Considers
| Factor | What Amazon Says |
|---|---|
| Total Price | Item price plus shipping fee. Lower prices, lower shipping or a coupon can help. |
| Delivery Promise | Faster offers and offers with a specific delivery date (not a wide range) are more likely to be featured. |
| Free Shipping | Preferred. A $40 offer with free shipping beats a $35 offer with $5 shipping. A free-shipping threshold the cart hasn't met doesn't count. |
| Free Returns | Customers prefer them, especially in often-returned categories like apparel. |
| Seller Performance | Order volume (with steps so smaller sellers aren't disadvantaged), chargeback rate, and complaints in Voice of the Customer such as damaged, defective, wrong item or not as described. |
| Stock and Shipping | Out of stock means no Featured Offer. An offer that can't ship to a customer's address is never shown to that customer. |
What Amazon Doesn't Consider
- Customer reviews and star ratings. Seller performance is judged on the signals above, not seller reviews.
- The Prime badge. With everything else equal, offers with or without Prime are equally likely to be featured.
- Fulfillment method. With everything else equal, FBA and FBM offers are equally likely to be featured. (More on that choice in our FBA vs FBM guide.)
Two details trip sellers up. The Featured Offer is decided separately for each variation, so you can hold it on the blue medium and lose it on the red large. And it can differ by shopper: their shipping address, their Prime membership and filters like delivery date all change which offer they see.
Why You Lost the Featured Offer, or Why It's Suppressed
Most cases come down to one of these:
- You're priced above the Competitive Price Threshold. Pricing Health lists offers that are "Not eligible to be the Featured Offer due to uncompetitive price" and shows the Competitive Price Threshold to beat. Amazon has said these are offers priced significantly higher than recent prices offered on or off Amazon. If every offer is above it, nobody gets the Featured Offer: that's what sellers call Buy Box suppression.
- Your price looks like an error. Prices that are too good to be true can be made ineligible while Amazon asks you to confirm a suspected pricing error. Pricing Health now shows offers deactivated for potential pricing errors on the same page.
- Your delivery promise is slower or vaguer. A competitor with a faster date, or a narrow date instead of a range, ranks higher. Check your shipping settings and handling time.
- You charge shipping, or skip free returns. Item-level or cart-level shipping fees and paid returns count against you.
- Your performance signals are weak. Chargebacks and Voice of the Customer complaints feed the ranking now. (Our Account Health customer service post covers the FBM metrics Amazon tracks.)
- You're out of stock, or you don't ship there. No stock, no Featured Offer. Shipping templates that exclude regions hide your offer from those customers.
Amazon's own checklist for a product with no Featured Offer is short: make sure your offer ships to the customer's location, make sure you have stock, and check Pricing Health. It also warns that it won't feature any offer if none meet its customer experience requirements, even when yours is the only offer.
How to Ask Seller Assistant Why You're Not Featured
Seller Assistant is the AI assistant built into Seller Central (open it from the panel on any page in the new layout; our new Seller Central guide shows where it sits). Amazon's help page lists "assess Featured Offer eligibility" among the things it can now do, along with investigating inactive or blocked listings. It reads your own account data, so the answers are about your offers, not general advice.
Here's the check we'd run, in this order:
- Find the ASINs that matter. In Business Reports, look at Featured Offer percentage by child ASIN: page views where your offer was featured, divided by total page views. Start with high-traffic ASINs where the number dropped.
- Ask about one ASIN at a time. Specific questions get better answers. Try:
- "Why isn't my offer the Featured Offer for ASIN [your ASIN]?"
- "Which of my offers aren't eligible to be the Featured Offer right now, and why?"
- "How does my price plus shipping and delivery promise compare to the Featured Offer on [your ASIN]?" What it told us. We asked it the first question about a client ASIN that Pricing Health had flagged. In one answer it found the SKU, said the offer was "qualified and buyable" but filtered out of Featured Offer consideration because its total price was "significantly higher than recent prices observed in or outside of the Amazon store," and pointed to Pricing Health and Automate Pricing. What it couldn't do was pull the reference prices; it sent us to Pricing Health for those, where the Competitive Price Threshold was listed. Use it to find the cause fast, and Pricing Health for the number.
- Check the answer in Pricing Health. Under Manage pricing, Pricing Health shows the opportunity type, the date, the Competitive Price Threshold and your price plus shipping, with one-click match actions. Amazon says Seller Assistant can make mistakes and recommends verifying with the source links it gives.
- Do the margin math before you match. Matching the threshold can wipe out your margin once fees and ad costs are in. Run the new price through our break-even calculator first. If it doesn't work, fix delivery speed, shipping fees or returns instead, or decide the ASIN isn't worth chasing.
- Fix the non-price causes. Tighten the delivery promise, drop item-level shipping fees into the price, add free returns at the account or product level, and work through Voice of the Customer complaints.
- Automate what you can. Automate Pricing can keep you inside the range you set, including a rule to stay competitive with the Featured Offer, with a minimum price that protects your margin.
One permission note: Seller Assistant's answers depend on your access. Amazon says users with "edit" permission get deeper responses, and the Primary User grants the Seller Assistant permission in User permissions.
FAQ
Is the Featured Offer the same as the Buy Box?
Yes. Amazon renamed the Buy Box the Featured Offer. It's the offer with the Add to Cart and Buy Now buttons on the product page.
Why does my listing say "no featured offers available"?
No offer currently meets Amazon's bar to be featured. Usually every offer is priced above Amazon's Competitive Price Threshold, out of stock, or can't ship to that shopper. Check Pricing Health first.
Is there still a Featured Offer eligibility requirement?
Not for sellers. Amazon's help page says that as of September 2026 offers from all sellers are eligible to be evaluated. Each offer still has to be competitive to be picked.
Do I need FBA or Prime to win the Featured Offer?
No. Amazon says that if all other factors are equal, FBA and FBM offers, and offers with or without the Prime badge, are equally likely to be featured.
Do reviews affect the Featured Offer?
No. Amazon says it doesn't consider customer reviews or star ratings when picking the Featured Offer.
How do I check my Featured Offer percentage?
In Business Reports. Amazon calculates it as the page views where your offer was featured divided by the total page views for your products.
Can Seller Assistant tell me why I'm not the Featured Offer?
Amazon says Seller Assistant can assess Featured Offer eligibility using your account data. Ask about a specific ASIN and check the answer against Pricing Health.
The Bottom Line
The excuse that your account isn't eligible is gone. Amazon now evaluates every seller's offers, so losing the Featured Offer comes down to price plus shipping, delivery speed, free returns, stock and how reliably you fulfill orders. Reviews, the Prime badge and FBA vs FBM don't decide it.
Start with the ASINs where your Featured Offer percentage dropped, ask Seller Assistant why, confirm it in Pricing Health, and check your margin before you match a price. If you'd rather have someone run that check across your catalog every week, that's part of our Amazon account management.
